NMR Probes for Direct Detection
Optimized for X-nuclei detection
The inner coil of these versatile probes is tuneable over a frequency range that enables observation of nuclei between 31P and 15N or between 31P and 109Ag, depending on probe configuration. The outer coil is optimized for 1H decoupling. You can, for example, acquire 13C spectra with 1H decoupling, then switch to 31P observation with 1H decoupling. You can change observed nuclei using a digital tuning device on the probe. With the 5mm BBO Probe, the outer coil can also be used for proton observation, albeit with reduced sensitivity compared to the Inverse Mulitnuclear (BBI) Probe, described below.
Tuneable Multinuclear Probes (BBO)
The inner coil of Bruker’s Tuneable Multinuclear (BBO) Probes can be tuned over a wide frequency range. They are often called Broadband Probes. The outer coil is optimized for 1H decoupling. Bruker offers BBO Probes with two tuning ranges, the widest in the industry. One lets you observe nuclei as far apart as 31P and 109Ag on the NMR Frequency Table. The other, available only for 10mm samples, lets you observe nuclei beween 39K to 41K. A unique digital switching device takes the guesswork out of changing the observe nuclei on Bruker’s Multinuclear (BBO) probes. Bruker’s BBO Probes are available for 2.5, 5, and 10 tube sizes. A 20mm size is also available for wide bore magnets.
Switchable Probes (QNP)
Quadruple (QNP) Probes are similar to Dual Probes. However, the inner coil of the QNP Probe is optimized for three nuclei (e.g. 19F, 31P and 13C) instead of just one. A three position digital switching device on the probe lets you select the inner coil observe nucleus. Automate the digital switching by adding a 5mm QNP Accessory to your probe order. In combination with a sample changer, you can accumulate spectra of up to four nuclei (eg. 1H, 19F, 31P and 13C) from a collection of 5mm samples under full automation.
Dual Probes (DUL & DUX)
Dual Probes allow you to switch observation between two nuclei: The inner coil is optimized for nuclei A (e.g. 13C), whilst the nucleus of the outer coil is optimized for nucleus B (usually 1H). Bruker Dual (DUL) Probes offer an ideal combination of outstanding sensitivity, lineshape, and pulse widths. These probes are often used with samplechangers to automate routine spectroscopy. Forexample, with a 13C / 1H DUL Probe you can obtain 13C and 1H NMR from a large collection of samples overnight or all weekend long. Dual Probes are available in 2.5 and 5mm sizes.
Selective (SEL & SEF) Probes
When the highest sensitivity is required, Bruker’s Selective Probes are optimized for the nucleus of interest and provide unsurpassed sensitivity, the best lineshape and resolution. They can be used for natural products, metabolites or specialized NMR research focusing on one nucleus. SEL probes for 2.5, 5 and 8mm samples are limited to those containing a dedicated coil optimized for 1H observation. SEF probes are available for 5mm tubes. Need an observe nucleus or a size not listed? Please contact your local office with your enquiry. Other sizes or nuclei can be accommodated.
